Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades add Loot crates for Meatmas (don’t panic)
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades (H3VR) developer Rust LTD are no stranger to seasonal updates. These updates usually add fun and well thought out mini-games, like Halloween 2016`s Meat Grinder. Meat Grinder was a survival horror mini-game full of dark humour and traps which still remains playable In H3VR today. This Christmas update (oops Meatmas update) adds a loot crate mini-game. The first 2 minutes of the dev blog for update 49 explains all and is linked below. This is a parody of the recent micro-transactions and loot crate contravisory around big triple A titles. In game currency and loot crates have got so bad that people are building robots to earn In game premium currency for them. Although, developers are slowly back peddling and balancing their games it still remains an area of resentment among gamers. Companies are also not back peddling enough in my opinion. While I do not often report on game updates, the satire of loot crates by the H3VR developer is just too perfect to not share.
There are currently calls for loot crates and games that include them to be regulated under gambling laws. Loot crates and micro-transactions remain an important topic, even reported by the mainstream news organisations such as the BBC News. I commend Rust LTD for Satirizing the practice of loot crates and keeping it at the forefront of our minds.
