DayZ beta phase isn’t coming until 2018
DayZ won’t be entering beta this year. While the developers initially aimed to have the game to this phase by the end of 2017, players will have to wait until next year. Courtesy of a status report posted last week, the beta will arrive in 2018, but that all the developers are “sure of yet.”
The game will enter it’s sixth year of development in January, launching in Early Access in December 2013. The developer writes, “I’ll be honest, it has been a long wait already – even for us – but that’s all we got now.”
All updates for the game are currently stalled for next year as well. The stable release of patch 0.63 (which will officially begin the beta phase) is being delayed. This includes the addition of diseases, weapon jamming, improved recoil, improved movement, and changes to the UI.
Currently, a patch 0.64 and 0.;65 are not planned. To focus players on the goal of the game, the developer ended with:
“2018 is going to be an important year for us in the studio, as our long term work finally makes its way out there. We sure take our time, but I truly believe that people only remember great games, and not how long it took to make them.
I hope that despite the somewhat disappointing nature of this Status Report (in terms of not having another major release this year), we still managed to hold on to the support from the most dedicated among you.”
