Call of Duty WWII takes fifth consecutive No.1 in UK charts
Last week was disappointing for physical video game sales, following on the tails of Black Friday. 1.34 million boxed games were sold in the UK, a 24% drop week-on-week.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the anticipated Nintendo Switch sequel to the popular JRPG, debuted at a lousy No.19 on the UK charts. Sales are still decent, placing nine spaces higher than it’s predecessor, Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Call of Duty: WWII holds the top place on the charts for its fifth consecutive week. The game is nipping at the heels of Black Ops III as the fastest-selling CoD game of the generation. The numbers don’t factor in digital downloads either, so it’s very likely that this is the most successful CoD since the previous generation.
Five weeks is quite a feat, shared by only one other game this year – Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy which was also published by Activision.
