Valve’s full VR games still coming
In a recent interview with Glixel of rollingstone.com Dan O’Brien (Vive general manager for the Amercias) reassures us that Valve are still committed to VR. With the recent news of CCP closing their VR division this reassurance comes at a good time. Valve are best known for games such as Half-life and of course Steam. Valve also created The Lab a suite of VR mini games which is the go to app to show off VR to you mates.
Dan O’Brien, states “I meet with Valve weekly to talk about everything from what’s happening on new content launching to new product launches to new features and new functions. They are very committed; they are still committed to delivering on that promise.” Referring to the three full fledged games Valve have stated they are making. The contents of these games are still a closely guarded secret but given the quality of The Lab I for one expect some amazing VR games.
The Article goes on to talk about VR peripherals and mentioned that some Vive games may be coming to PSVR. The latter has of course already happened. The VR Paper Boy clone, Special Delivery by Meerkat Gaming was ported to the PSVR earlier this year and is just one of many that I know to have been ported. Sony are also heavily invested in VR and recently got Skyrim VR on a timed exclusive, much to the chagrin of many PC VR enthusiasts. (see my Full review of Skyrim VR here)
The future is bright for VR and Valve’s assurances of continued development only solidify that.
