New PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds patch comes with major performance drops
PUBG isn’t a light game on any system, and the performance woes have plagued even those with high-end systems. However, a subtle progression to a better performing game has been reassuring over time, as the release of 1.0 nears.
However, a recent patch for the game changes that. Multiple player reports confirm major performance hits following the latest patch. Some note frame rates drops in the double digits.
The PUBG subreddit created a megathread to get some discussion on the issue. While issues like these are pretty widespread in their application, most players report frame drops when looting. Going into the inventory over a body causes the most issues.
Many players suspect this is due to the addition of an anti-cheat system known as Themida. There’s no concrete evidence to support that at this point, though. Thankfully, the PUBG Corp is aware of the issues are moving to fix them.
We are aware and will investigate soon.
