Halo Wars 2 crossplay update connects PC and Xbox One players
It’s every PC gamers wet dream: going up against console players to show just how much a mouse and keyboard can do in battle. Thankfully, this is true for the latest Halo Wars 2 update.
The latest update allows cross-play between PC and Xbox One. You won’t be able to rank up, though. 343 said, “for the sake of fairness and parity,” only unranked modes are available.
You can play cooperatively as well. Blitz Firefight (a hoard mode), Terminus Firefight (wave tower defense), and the campaign are all up for grabs, as well as custom matches.
Providing all goes well, 343 plans on rolling out crossplay to other playlists in the future. Balance updates are “under-the-hood preparation for future ranked multiplayer”, so ranked matches are probably coming soon.
Of course, the update fixed some random bugs, all of which you can find in the full patch notes here.
