Warhammer 2’s Mortal Empires DLC Release Date Announced
For many Warhammer and Total War fans, this is what you were waiting for. While Warhammer 2 is an absolutely amazing game, the long-standing promise from Creative Assembly to release three Warhammer games and combine the maps as they went loomed large over the release of Warhammer 2. Well, we now have a release date of October 26th for the Mortal Empires DLC. A plethora of details about the DLC that certainly held to the promise of coming out “weeks not months” after the main game came out today.
There are only a few small negatives with this DLC. There is no Norsca yet, the latest faction DLC needs a few more weeks to be balanced with the whole campaign. There are also slightly less total regions than if you simply added the numbers of Warhammer 1 and 2, but that is largely to streamline the sure to be massive campaign. Load times for end turns will also be much longer, but there we are simply limited by engine capabilities and player hardware.
The positives? Well, quite simply the endless possibilities. CA themselves are showing those off by livestreaming free for all battles with mixes of Old and New World factions. Skaven against Dwarfs, a three-way elf battle, noble Bretonian knights charging into the stalwart lines of Lizardmen temple guard. Multiplayer battles or just single player skirmishes have so many awesome matchups now.
The campaign looks like it could possibly be bogged down, or it could be loads of fun. Personally, I am going to take Bretonia for my first playthrough and play the global crusader. Time will tell how stable this ambitious project is, but hey, its totally free if you have the first two games. Every new faction DLC is going to be added to the global campaign as well, and the stage will be set for when Warhammer 3 eventually releases. What faction are you going to conquer with first?
