Activision doesn’t care which Call of Duty you play as long as you’re playing it
The latest Call of Duty titles haven’t been getting much love from the community. Despite being five years old, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 ended up outselling Infinite Warfare this past April according to NPD rankings.
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg doesn’t care, though. In a recent interview with GamesIndustry, Hirshberg said he’s just happy people are playing.
“Call of Duty is less of a persistent platform as it is a persistent ethos. It is a game that makes you feel a certain way, and has certain expectations around core mechanics, tone and manner. I feel there are multiple presentations of that, and we have shown the ability to keep people engaged, sometimes for many years past the initial launch.”
Maybe Call of Duty WWII will change that. Who knows.
