New Origin update adds FPS counter and cross-game party invites
Origin has released a new update that adds a lot in terms of functionality to the DRM platform. The first area of improvement is in, now manageable, download speeds. This means you can set bandwidth restrictions so you don’t exceed a certain amount during download.
It’s a pretty straight-forward process, but EA conveniently made a video to walk you through which you can find below.
Next, EA added a frame counter that can be placed in any corner of your monitor. While not super important, it’s nice validating that your system is as badass as you think it is. You can find the setting under Application Settings → Origin in-game → During Gameplay.
However, a real star of the show here is the addition of cross-game party invites. Now, you can invite friends to a party despite what game they’re actually playing. Again, the process is pretty straight forward, but we have another one of those handy videos to validate.
These updates are available, but not for the released version of Origin. You can only receive them right now if opt-in for Origin beta. You can find that under Application Settings → Participate in Origin client betas.
