Wavedash Games Receives $6 million in funding
Wavedash Games, a studio team founded by former Blizzard, EA and Riot developers has today received funding of around $6 million.
The investment was made by March Capital Partners with six other capital firms also aiding with the fund.
Wavedash has said it plans to use the $6 million to increase the headcount of their team and continue to develop it’s new ‘platform fighter’ – a beat em up game that focuses more on the style of Super Smash Bros rather than your classic Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat style game.
The new game will aim to be a hit in the eSport arena. With a team made up of ex-Riot and Blizzard developers, it’s easy to imagine the success this could bring.
It will also be free to play and will follow the League of Legends business model that will allow players to purchase cosmetic items. Whilst the game is being developed for PC, the game will also include “extensive controller support” so may yet see a port to the console platforms
