Mass Effect: Andromeda Sold 1.03 Million Copies In First Week Retail
Following a huge amount of hype and media attention prior to the game’s launch in March, the news of Andromeda performing well will be no surprise, regardless of its problems. The news from VGChartz is that it sold roughly 1.03 million copies. 60% of the sales were on PS4, 33% on Xbox One and only 7% on PC.
In comparison, Ghost Recon: Wildlands sold about 400k more titles, so it’s still a little bit far behind its competitors in the PC market. It was dwarfed by that of console releases Horizon Zero Dawn (1.4 million more copies and Legend of Zelda (800k more copies).
The launch was a bit bumpy to say the least, with animation issues being the main talking point from players. Work from EA has gone into the game to try and solves some of those problems, and whilst some have been fixed, it will probably never be completed resolved.
